Pen Turning
I'm fairly new to turning pens also. Make a lot of pens, even the cheap slimlines just for practice. I made about 50 for Christmas. I did some just with a skew, some with carbide only, tried some different shapes. Pay attention to the failures - that is where the learning is. I had a few tear out down to the tube, found out you shouldn't sand your bushings at all, especially with a light wood, it is easy to oversand and reduce the diameter too much - lots of lessons that will stick with me since I learned them the hard way. Oh, if you glue the tubes in with CA and push them with your finger, put a couple of layers of cloth tape over your pushing finger. Otherwise.....
